A second annual urban party organized by the town of Vaudreuil-Dorion will take place at Place Dumont on Aug. 25, beginning at 5 p.m. Officials say they are closing the summer season with jazz and DJ music, food, socializing in the street, and more. A mural by artist Madeleine Turgeon that spans the Valois overpass pedestrian walkway, and which will reflect the area’s ongoing revitalization, will be revealed at 5 p.m. The fresco was completed with help from youths from Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Vaudreuil-Soulanges, as well as local graffiti artists. The history of the Dorion sector, including several key dates and events, will also be highlighted by the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional Museum and the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Archives Centre, which will present a series of historical interpretation panels. And a variety of foods will be served up by businesses including Sunny’s, Première Moisson, Artisan de la mer, IGA Viau, Patate et persil, and more, while other merchants will offer events, activities and services. Mayor Guy Pilon said participants and business owners were pleased with the success of last year’s event. Festival goers living close by are encouraged to arrive on foot or by bicycle.
