Hudson Grannies Aid for Africa hosting film screening

The Grannies Aid for Africa, Hudson group will screen the Stephen Lewis Foundation film: “African Grandmothers Tribunal – Seeking Justice at the Front Lines of the Aids Crisis” this weekend. A short presentation on the history of the Stephen Lewis Foundation will follow the film, playing at at 7:30 p.m. on May 14, at the Hudson Community Center, 394 Main Rd. The Grannies Aid for Africa, Hudson, a non-profit group that has been active  for the past eight years, are part of the world-wide Grandmother  to Grandmother Campaign. The foundation provides support to African grandmothers caring for grandchildren in the wake of the Aids epidemic. Members of the Hudson Grannies group say the funds will go to grassroots projects set up by the their African counterparts and will ensure the kids have food and necessities, and that they can go to school. Funds also help ensure cover preventative medical treatment in the event that any of the kids are infected with the HIV virus. The Stephen Lewis  Foundation has supported more than 1,400 initiatives and sponsored 300 community projects in African countries including Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda , Uganda, and more.
