The town of Pincourt is looking for at least 30 volunteers to help welcome more than 1,000 cyclists during the 8th annual Grand défi Pierre Lavoie, rolling through the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region on June 18 & 19.
The 1,000-km event, that will see the cyclists pedal from Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean to Montreal, will include a stop in Pincourt, which has been chosen as an official rest point during the all-night event.
Volunteers will work between 11:15 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. welcoming riders and vehicles and leading them to Chêne-Bleu High School, where they will sleep.
Others will help encourage the exhausted cyclists who will be fatigued from the challenging night ride.
“There’s no doubt this night will be a very memorable time,” say organizers.
The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie aims to encourage Quebecers to adopt a healthy lifestyle on a regular basis. A t-shirt will be given to each volunteer..
To register as a volunteer contact Simon Grenier, Pincourt Director of Recreation and Community Services, at 514 453-8981, extension 230, or at s.grenier@villepincourt.qc.ca.
