A West Island non-profit dance company that uses its voice to raise money and awareness is presenting an outstanding show today and tomorrow to benefit the West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, WIAIH.

The Sonia Balazovjech Dance Company opened the show “Perspectives”, Thursday night. The professional-like production that was more than a year in the making will run Jan. 27 at 8 p.m., and Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. & 8 p.m. at Locale 514, 5765 Paré, Montreal.

The beautiful, evocative and moving show merges the art forms of modern, interpretive dance with song, music, video storytelling, and more. At the same time, audiences will learn quite a bit about the important work done by WIAIH, and why they need support.

Students from Macdonald High School in Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue are volunteering with the production, as are members from WIAIH. The Sonia Balazovjech Dance Company is comprised of 10 women who work full time jobs during the day, while additionally devoting close to a dozen hours a week to dance. Each year the company stages one such show to benefit regional charities.
