A Hudson heritage house will head into its busy summer season under a new executive director after it was announced that Terry O’Shaughnessy has taken over the job. O’Shaughnessy was appointed Executive Director for the Greenwood Centre for Living History during the home’s AGM, held on May 1. She takes over for Audrey Wall, who held the position for the past nine years. Wall will assume the Associate Director duties to ensure a smooth transition. O’Shaughnessy, a former Hudson resident who now lives in the West Island, is a writer and communications consultant who was a past editor at Your Local Journal newspaper, as well as a regular contributor to the Montreal Gazette, West Island section. She was named Greenwood’s Associate Director in 2014 and additionally served on its Board of Directors and as a member for four years of the annual StoryFest Committee. O’Shaughnessy said her goal will be managing the learning curve as Greenwood heads into a busy summer season, which will commence on June 5 when the home open its renowned gardens. Vaudreuil-Soulanges MP Peter Schiefke will be the guest of honour during the event that will run from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Prior to that, The Greenwood Singers will present Songs for a Midsummer Night at 7:30 p.m., on May 25 at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. A reception at Greenwood will follow. Parts of Greenwood, which date to 1732, are considered the oldest free-standing structure in the region. A visit to the non-profit heritage home situated at 254 Main Rd. allows guests to not only partake of guided tours of the house that remains arranged as it was at various periods during the past 300 years, but to also tour the waterfront gardens, have tea on the lawn, or participate in a host of special activities.
